Reflecting the characteristics of its digital counterpart, physical Bitcoins manifest as tokens etched with the initial segment of a public address and a corresponding private key. The public address is visibly displayed on the physical coin or documented on an accompanying certificate Verifiable on any btc explorer, whereas the private key is subtly placed within a recess on the flip side of the coin and remains safeguarded beneath a tamper-evident hologram which can be pealed and redeemed on demand.
Casascius Bitcoins are physical metal coins created by Bitcoin user Casascius (Mike Caldwell, Sandy, Utah) and sold until Nov 26, 2013. Starting with simple brass 1 btc coins, he expanded production until ending sales over two years later due to allegations by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, or FINCEN, of running a ‘money transmitting’ business which requires various special licences.
Lealana Bitcoins, announced in June 2013 as ‘Lealana Physical Litecoins’, Lealana entered the market as a friendly competitor to Casascius focusing on Litecoin, the second most popular crypto-currency at the time. Lealana LLC is based in Hawaii and run by Noah Luis.
Noah, or better known by his handle internet handle ‘smoothie’ on online forums where a majority of release announcements and customer interaction occurs. The brand has a Hawaiian inspiration, with later coins featuring Hawaiian-style artwork on both the hologram and face, along with a Hawaiian translation of the ‘Strength in Numbers’ motto popularized by Casascius.

Denarium Bitcoins are physical bitcoin wallets created by a Finnish Bitcoin company Prasos. Denarium bitcoin wallets are collectible luxury items made of different materials such as gold, silver, gold-plated brass funded with bitcoins and are the first company to provide a multisig option for physical bitcoins.
Each token contains a private key which forms the backing for the Bitcoin value represented by the coin. The private key is in 30-character mini private key format. It is difficult or impossible to read the private key on the coin without damaging or destroying the hologram, which exposes a honeycomb-like tamper-evidence pattern when peeled.
